Announcing the Cover of Matthew Wong Foreman’s “Sunset at Lion Rock”

Wong Foreman and book cover

We’re pleased to debut the cover art for Matthew Wong Foreman’s forthcoming novel Sunset at Lion Rock, set to be published by 7.13 Books on September 15, 2026. The novel, set in Hong Kong in the early 21st century, follows a young man experiencing a dramatic change in his beliefs about religion and politics. The author explained the significance of the cover:

“There is perhaps no better symbol of Hong Kong than 140-million-year-old Lion Rock Hill. In a hypermodern city like Hong Kong — young, fast-paced, temporary — Lion Rock is a constant reminder of the fleeting nature of our existence. And for Eric, the protagonist of Sunset at Lion Rock, confronting this fleetingness is a principal obsession, grappling as he does with the city’s rapidly changing sociopolitical landscape while struggling to comprehend his family’s hazy — and often intentionally obfuscated — history. The novel’s cover design captures this haziness well. The Hong Kong skyline isn’t seen from atop Lion Rock but from behind it. Seeming to float above the clouds, mountain and city alike feel celestial, fantastical, as if hurtling toward the Otherworld.”
