Morning Bites: Helen Gurley Brown, Pulping Jonah Lehrer, Great Expectations Trailer, Pauls Toutonghi and More

Helen Gurley Brown (above) passed away yesterday. Tributes came from everywhere including Carolyn Kellogg at the LA Times,  The New Inquiry, and the Daily News. Of course there’s also the somewhat awkward New York Times obit that included the line, “She was 90, though parts of her were considerably younger.”

Our own Jason Diamond talked with Joshua Cohen at McNally Jackson the other day. Electric Literature was there and posted a recap.

Pauls Toutonghi gives Largehearted Boy his Book Notes for Evel Knievel Days.

Matthew Shaer on the inevitable fate of all those Jonah Lehrer books.

Huffington Post has a slideshow on indie bookstores doing interesting things to get business kicking.

Want to see the trailer for the new Great Expectations adaptation? BOOM!

Bob Powers and Mike Sacks give us some friendly robocalls at The New Yorker.
