Music Notes: Sunglasses, The Vaselines, Beach Fossils, and the Sounds of Summer

  • I’m sold on what Sunglasses are selling.  I feel like I’m listening to the Good n’ Plenty choo choo train with Tobacco making the music.  Their new EP (out on June 15th, Lefse Records is a little slice of awesome that we like so much, we’re giving away a copy of the limited edition hand sewn album over on our Twitter.

Listen: Sunglasses – “Whiplash

  • Captured Tracks have two releases coming out that could be placed alongside Woods, At Echo Lake, in the ultimate summer jams category.  Beach Fossils debut LP is everything I’ve been waiting for since I heard the single, “Daydream”, last year.  Gemini, by Wild Nothing, is a stunner.  It’s one guy who has somehow captured a lot of the best parts of My Bloody Valentine, Galaxie 500, New Order, and Kate Bush.  It’s lush and pretty in all the right spots.
  • I went to the release party for The Wailing Wall at Mercury Lounge last Friday.
