Vol. 1 Brooklyn and W.W. Norton have partnered to host the release party for Will Oldham’s Will Oldham on Bonnie “Prince” Billy at Housing Works Bookstore tonight in New York City. The event begins at 7, is free and open to the public.
Over the past quarter of a century as Bonnie “Prince” Billy, Oldham has made an idiosyncratic journey through, and an indelible mark on, the worlds of indie rock and independent cinema. Oldham’s work has found him intersecting with such disparate figures as Johnny Cash, Bjork, James Earl Jones, and R. Kelly; each discussed at length with editor, longtime friend and associate Alan Licht.
The book offers a captivating and revelatory glimpse into the life of one of the most critically acclaimed and enigmatic musicians working today, and maybe the most in-depth look we ever get of this fascinating cult figure.
