Truffaut’s Fahrenheit 451 Made Me Question Myself

Posted by Jason Diamond

I Sat down and watched Truffaut’s film adaptation of Fahrenheit 451 last night.  It made me realize that I’m a fucking terrible, shallow person who values material possessions far too much.

If you haven’t guessed by now, the 1966 film is based off the Ray Bradbury book, and there are book burning scenes — those scenes made me wince.  I wasn’t moved by the fact that Truffaut’s only English film was actually pretty damned good.  I was so focused on the fact that they were physically burning so many beautiful old Penguin paperbacks, and books that I’d probably pay out the ass for today, that it made it hard for me to focus on a pretty darned good film.

Would I suggest you watch this film?  Absolutely.  Just don’t be like me.
