Alexis M. Smith‘s 2012 debut Glaciers was a perfectly composed work, moving from the dreamlike to the quotidian and back again. It abounded with lived-in details and evocative images, and was one of our favorite books of that year. We’ve been eager to read her followup to it, and it sounds as though we’ll finally be able to do that  next year. Smith’s second novel, Marrow Island, is due out in 2016, and its cover is tactile, stark, and ominous–getting us even more intrigued by the story told within.
